Well, after waiting about 5 hours give or take thirty minutes, and at roughly 7:48 AM, I got my wii(s), accessories and games. Haven't posted anything because I've spent the last couple hours in multiplayer bliss (and the battery in my phone died, so I couldn't post from that. And I suppose I could've booted up my laptop and posted from that, but, didn't have the chance.) Anyway, below are a few game micro-reviews if anyone cares.
Wii Sports - Awesome fun. Tennis is especially great, especially with four people in a room that's just exactly big enough so that people bump into each other with crazy ass wild swings. Boxing can be even more hectic, with fights sometimes breaking down into wild jabs and swings trying to finish off an opponent, while everyone else cheers on. Golf and Bowling are a little slower paced, but, still awesome, if only for the heckling, jeering and cheering of people who overswing or overthrow and end up missing by a lot or just a bit. Baseball seems a little unbalanced though, as it seems easy enough to consistently hit home runs and games just devolve into home run derbies.
Rayman - Awesome multiplayer fun, and we didn't even get to the ingame multiplayer stuff yet -- just playing the single player minigames with a wiimote passed around. Some of the minigames in it are physically exhausting, especially with rapid and exaggerated movements of the wiimote in nigh-impossible ways. (Well, technically, only small movements are actually needed, but, you know...) And failure means repeating the minigame, getting tired, ensuring a slightly slower time, and failing again! Which is when you pass around the wiimote to the next player. Especially amusing if someone keeps missing the target by just a few seconds, struggling, over and over again.
Excite Truck - Fun, but, uh, incredibly hectic, and none of us really understood what was going on, as we all just skipped right through the tutorials. =D Probably would make more sense if we'd all have some experience with it first.
Zelda - Spent about an hour with it, didn't do much, went right back to multiplayer fun. =D More on zelda later.
Red Steel - Aiming with the wiimote has been mostly dead on perfect. Even better then a mouse maybe. Pointing with the wiimote is incredibly easy. But, turning left and right is all sorts of crazy screwy. I don't know if it's because I've screwed up the in-game sensitivity with the fishes in the Aquarium. If you play it, pay attention to those fishes!
(part quatre is private, please consider joining vox and notifying me, if you want to see it. although, it's just a photo, and it's on flickr too. although, it's private there too.)
Tomorrow is Wii launch day in the US. The Nintendo World Store, where I have my preorders at, opens at 6 AM Sunday morning. I've set my alarm to 3 AM, and I'm going to hit the sack early. Although I'll probably still be stuck in line for twice as long as I hope to. Apparently, there are already ~500 or so people in line now at the Toys"R"Us in Times Square waiting for the midnight launch. And, I'm sure there are already quite a few people waiting on line at the Nintendo World Store too. Hopefully it won't be too bad. More from me in at 3 AM. *zzz*
